PARKINSON'S DISEASE
Parkinson's disease causes many neurological disorders.
It is due to a degeneration of a brain structure called the substantia nigra.
The most visible condition of Parkinson's disease is tremor.
We also note in Parkinson's patients a significant postural tone as well as a significant disorder in the planning, execution and control of voluntary movements (akinesia).
The management of subjects suffering from Parkinson's varies depending on the degree of progression of the disease and the disorders presented by the subject.
Throughout the treatment, the physiotherapist places great importance on maintaining the range of motion of the different limbs to combat general stiffness.
Walking can be hazardous and dangerous and often requires correction.
Classically, patients go from so-called “on” phases where motor skills are almost normal to so-called “off” phases where motor skills are compromised.
The "on" phases are more conducive to the rehabilitation of walking, balance and muscle strengthening, while the "off" phases are generally reserved for joint mobilizations and massage, which is also very effective and very appreciated.
